South Suburban Family Shelter offers a state approved Domestic Violence 40-hour Training. The training is offered 4 times per year and includes a wide range of topics and discussion. Upon completion of the program participants have a comprehensive understanding of domestic violence. Police departments, school districts, faith communities and other social service agencies are encouraged to attend. CEU's offered!

Abuser Intervention Facilitator 20-Hour Training
June 24-26, 2010
The Abuser Intervention 20-hour Training is offered twice a year at South
Suburban Family Shelter. This training is designed for those interested in
working with domestic violence offenders or professionals in the field. The
topics covered include a history of partner abuse intervention programs
in Illinois, intervention models, implementing a curriculum and group dynamics.
Participants can expect to learn best practices in co-facilitation of
groups and the role of a facilitator. Completion of the 20-hour training is
required for those working with domestic violence perpetrators. SSFS is a
recognized 20-hour training site by the Illinois Department of Human
Services.
