Training

Do I have to commit to the morning or evening sessions for the 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training?

No.  You may attend morning or evening sessions as works for your schedule throughout the training.  You must attend all sessions to receive your certificate of completion.

 

When is the next 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training?

Our 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training is offered four times a year, in:  February, May, August, and November.  You will find details, schedule, and registration information in the month prior to each training here.

 

When is the next 20-Hour Abuser Intervention Facilitator Training?

Our 20-Hour Abuser Intervention Facilitator Training is offered three times a year, in:  March, June, and September.  You will find details, schedule, and registration information in the month prior to each training here.

 

Why do I need the 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training?

The 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training is the minimum requirement for Domestic Violence professionals in Illinois.  Consult the Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional Board  for information on becoming an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional.

 

Why do I need the 20-Hour Abuser Intervention Facilitator Training?

The 20-Hour Abuser Intervention Facilitator Training is the minimum requirement for Abuser Intervention Facilitators in IL.  Consult the Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional Board for information on becoming a Certified Abuser Intervention Professional.

 

Can someone speak at my school, my church, at my event, etc.?

Yes!  Our Outreach Coordinator, Vicki Meilach, and our Prevention Specialists, Cynthia Baron and Mitch Condon, are available to speak to students, community groups, churches, and other groups or events.  We will work with you to schedule a presentation that meets your needs.  For school presentations, contact Cynthia Baron or call Cynthia at 708-794-2140, ext. 306.  For other presentations, contact Vicki Meilach or call Vicki at 708-794-2140, ext. 303.

 

Volunteering, Donating, and Jobs

Do you need volunteers?

Yes, we are always looking for dedicated volunteers!  We have ongoing needs for volunteers to perform administrative tasks in our Administrative Office, to assist us with outreach tasks like hanging hotline posters in area schools and businesses, and managing our food donations.  We also have periodic needs for volunteers to perform maintenance tasks like weeding, small repairs, and organizational projects.  Contact our Outreach Coordinator, Vicki Meilach or call Vicki at 708-794-2140, ext. 303, to express interest.

 

Can I do court-ordered community service hours for your organization?

Possibly.  We can assist with community service hours under specific circumstances.  Please contact our Outreach Coordinator, Vicki Meilach or call Vicki at 708-794-2140, ext. 303, to express interest.

 

How can I make a donation?

Do you accept non-monetary donations?

Thank you for your support!  We do accept donations of non-perishable, non-expired food items, personal toiletry items (toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, feminine products, etc.), and gently used clothing, accessories and household items.  Our resale shop, One More Thing Resale Shop, accepts deliveries of gently used furniture by specific arrangement only.  Call Chante at One More Thing at 708-228-5077 for questions about donating furniture.
