January through June 2014 Update

From January to June 2014, SSFS:

  • Provided services to 1,262 adult victims and 87 children;

  • Our 24-hour Hotline answered 625 calls;

  • Provided Emergency Shelter to 2 adults and their 4 children;

  • Our Prevention Specialists made 290 presentations to 6,295 elementary, junior high, and high school students;

  • Our Hospital Advocates spoke to 13,256 women and men in four south suburban emergency rooms and three urgent aid clinics, and provided 164 with immediate assistance;

  • Project RENEW provided economic assistance to 46 adult victims and their children;
  • The Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP) facilitated 184 group sessions with 152 participants, and ran 23 group lectures with 358 participants;
  • Our Court Advocates at the Markham Courthouse helped 241 victims obtain an Order of Protection, and provided information on DV law to 590 victims,

  • The Sanctuary served 11 families who were homeless due to foreclosure, economic hardship, or domestic violence, including 24 children; and,

  • The Counseling program provided direct services to 401 adult clients and 85 children.
