January through June 2015 Update

From January to June 2015, SSFS:

  • Our 24-hour Hotline answered 739 calls;
  • Provided linkage to Emergency Shelter for 30 victims and children who were at imminent risk;  
  • Our Prevention Specialists made 291 presentations to 7,297 elementary, junior high, and high school students;
  • Our Hospital Advocates spoke to 13,775 women and men in four south suburban emergency rooms and three urgent aid clinics, and provided 164 with immediate assistance;
  • Project RENEW provided economic assistance to 18 adult victims and their children;
  • The Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP) facilitated 208 group sessions with 186 participants, and ran 75 group lectures with 542 participants;
  • Our Court Advocates at the Markham Courthouse helped 239 victims obtain an Order of Protection, and provided information on DV law to 597 victims;
  • The Sanctuary served 12 families who were homeless due to foreclosure, economic hardship, or domestic violence, including 31 children; and,
  • The Counseling program provided direct services to 251 adult clients and 69 children.
