July through December 2015 Update

From July to December 2015, SSFS:

  • Our 24-hour Hotline answered 826 calls;
  • Provided linkage to Emergency Shelter for 6 victims and 6 children who were at imminent risk;  
  • Our Prevention Specialists made 299 presentations to 6,037 elementary, junior high, and high school students;
  • Our Hospital Advocates spoke to 16,115 women and men in four south suburban emergency rooms and three urgent aid clinics, and provided 380 with immediate assistance;
  • Project RENEW provided economic assistance to 43 adult victims and their children;
  • The Partner Abuse Intervention Program (PAIP) facilitated 181 group sessions with 137 participants, and ran 71 group lectures with 497 participants;
  • Our Court Advocates at the Markham Courthouse helped 189 victims obtain an Order of Protection, and provided information on DV law to 530 victims;
  • The Sanctuary served 13 families who were homeless due to foreclosure, economic hardship, or domestic violence, including 30 children; and,
  • The Counseling program provided direct services to 175 adult clients and 69 children.
